Eiffage lays the foundation stone of the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin de Dijon

This Thursday, July 4, 2019, François Rebsamen, Mayor of Dijon, President of Dijon Metropolis, former Minister, Olivier Genis, President of Eiffage Construction, Marie-Guite Dufay, President of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region and Bernard Schmeltz, Prefect of the Burgundy region Franche-Comté and Prefect of Côte d'Or have laid the foundation stone of the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin of Dijon, realized by Eiffage Aménagement.
On the site of the former Dijon General Hospital of 6.5 hectares, this internationally renowned equipment will allow all the public to enjoy a new district at the same time cultural, commercial, playful, educational and entrepreneurial.

In 2014, the city of Dijon named Eiffage Aménagement winner of this consultation for the realization of the International City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon. To win the call for expressions of interest, Eiffage Aménagement was able to surround itself with renowned cultural and tourist actors, propose an opening of the site to the city and take into account, in the proposed development, the heritage aspect of the General Hospital’s historic buildings.
 
The architectural project is carried out by the agencies Anthony Béchu and Perrot-Richard and the landscaper Land Axe in respect of the heritage quality of the site, the conservation of green spaces and the protection of species.

This project is both an opportunity for the redevelopment of a former hospital site and a symbol of a vast urban development project of the Dijon agglomeration. It wishes to respond to the economic and social challenges posed by the Grand Dijon, and aims to develop the tourism economy in Côte d'Or by proposing:

  • A centre for culture and exhibitions: 1,750 m² of exhibitions will give the keys to understanding the French gastronomic meal but also the importance of wine in this cultural heritage, with a very special place dedicated to the climates of Burgundy.
  • Access to training in pastry and French cuisine with the École Ferrandi Paris - 850 m² of educational spaces located within the iconic Canon de lumière -, and oenology with the School of Wines of the Interprofessional Bureau of Burgundy Wines.
  • A start-up incubator: “Village By CA”, with Vitagora (the competitiveness cluster around the theme of “taste, nutrition, health”) and Food Tech (support network for startups working on food and nutrition), will establish itself on 1,500 m² to gather about fifteen startups.
  • A luxurious **** hotel, from the Curio by Hilton range, comprising 125 rooms, set in historic buildings, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, and in a contemporary extension. It will feature a restaurant, spa and outdoor swimming pool.
  • About 15 boutiques dedicated to gastronomy, wine and the arts of the table, restaurants and wine bars covering nearly 5,000 m².
  • Two cinemas: a multiplex of 9 cinemas (Ciné Ducs) and an art cinema and an essay of 4 cinemas (Supernova). In all, 13 rooms will allow all audiences to enjoy the 7th art.
  • 90 housing units rehabilitated by the François 1er group, specialist in the renovation of historic monuments.
  • An eco-district comprising about 500 new housing units (accession and agreements) and three managed residences (student, senior and tourism).

 
The construction work began in the summer of 2018 with the construction of the eco-district buildings, the Eiffage Construction teams are now tackling the creation of cultural, commercial and training centres.
The delivery of the first buildings of the eco-district is planned for 2020, these will be in particular the two programs in IntenCité accession and authenticity.
The Cité Internationale de la gastronomie et du vin is set to open officially at the end of 2021.
