Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ subsidiaries Transport & Distribution and RMT, who chiefly deploy their expertise in Africa, have won three contracts within only a few months. These three orders signed with CI-Énergies and Ivoire Hydro Energy respectively will enable our branch to build a long-term presence on the Ivory Coast.

In early 2019, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes Transport & Distribution’s teams signed a contract financed by the World Bank, to build a 225-kV SF6 gas-insulated substation (GIS) supplying electrical power in Yopougon, a suburb of the economic capital Abidjan. On this site, our employees are to install a new substation with GIS technology, including 9 switch bays and two 225 kV/90 kV transformers with unit power of 100 MVA. Our teams have also planned to replace all the existing monitoring & control equipment in the 90kV substation. They aim to secure the city of Abidjan’s energy supply by reinforcing the 225 kV grid.

As for our subsidiary RMT, they won a contract to restructure Abidjan’s high-voltage networks. Having obtained Lot 5, our team are to bury 170 km of  24 kV cables. These works are part of the Energos project which aims to encourage access to electrical services for the population of Abidjan by reinforcing and developing distribution networks in urban and peri-urban environments.
The project is driven by the European Union and the European Investment Bank, and is designed to provide Ivorian public power grid operator CI-Énergies with technical assistance by extending lines, upgrading and modernizing networks, reinforcing distribution, etc.

Apart from this project, the consortium comprising Eiffage Infrastructures Côte d’Ivoire and RMT has won a design-build contract for hydro power development on the Singrobo-Ahouaty dam (on the Bandama River between Abidjan and Yamoussoukro) for the company Ivoire Hydro Energy. On this dam with 44 MW output, our RMT team will install a 90 kV HV transformer substation enabling energy produced by Singrobo hydro power plant to be evacuated.
This huge project mobilizing expertise from both Eiffage Génie Civil and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes began in early 2019 and is scheduled over three years. The dam and power plant turnkey projects will be delivered at the end of 2021.
