Eiffel Tower : Eiffage continues to modernise the lift on the north pillar

Infrastructures Division

After replacing the pulleys and major components of the mechanism, our teams proceeded to reinforce the car track and the lift racks.

These claw-like safety teeth allow the car to lock into place in the event of a fall. The 12 m long sections were carefully hoisted to the second floor of the tower, almost 100 metres high! In total, the rack sections are 140 m long.

Since 2018, the Eiffage Métal and Groupe Baudin Chateauneuf consortium has been working to make the lift more efficient, more reliable and in compliance with current safety standards.

Thank you to SETE - Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel for its confidence.
