Supported by Plaine Commune, the transformation of the old 255-ton movable bridge into a modern footbridge illustrates a strong commitment to soft mobility and heritage enhancement.
The great advantage of this infrastructure is that it reuses the road bridge deck to create the new crossing. This led to a large-scale reuse operation, with a desire to minimize demolition and modification work.
Eiffage Métal is proud to have contributed to this major project by carrying out the detailed design, manufacturing at its Lauterbourg plant (67) and assembling the impressive metal access ramps, over 100 meters long, as well as the staircases.
Transforming an old structure into an eco-friendly one makes all the difference!
This project was carried out in collaboration with Plaine Commune, Exploration Architecture, schlaich bergermann partner sbp, and RAZEL-BEC | FAYAT Group.
