PAMM Metropolitan Martial Arts Center: A Rehabilitation and Extension Project Dedicated to Sport in Lormont (33)

As part of a design-and-build contract, and in compliance with the objectives of the Tertiary Decree, Eiffage Construction has delivered to Bordeaux Métropole and the city of Lormont (33) the PAMM: Pôle des Arts Martiaux Métropolitain, a tertiary building that meets new energy performance standards.

After 18 months of work, Eiffage Construction’s teams have completed a facility dedicated to performance and sporting excellence. The PAMM stands out for its optimized spaces for the training and development of young athletes, while also being able to host all competitions listed in the French Judo Federation’s official calendar. The project includes a competition hall, a warm-up room, a dojo equipped for major events, as well as a reception and social area for leagues and departmental committees.
Modernized and expanded, it has become one of the largest dojos in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and a benchmark venue for combat sports.

One of the project’s main goals was to create a versatile facility. The inaugural week, held in early October, illustrated this ambition with an opening day featuring the presence of Teddy Riner and 800 young judokas from across the region. Handball players then had the opportunity to test the solid wood flooring, before the celebrations concluded with the 11th edition of “Money Time,” a breakdance battle bringing together international dancers.
The PAMM stands out for its environmental choices and energy performance, in compliance with the Tertiary Decree. The extensions meet RE2020 standards and are labeled E+C level 3, while the existing structure was upgraded to comply with RT2012 standards.

To achieve these results, Eiffage Construction worked on the building envelope — roof and façades — with reinforced insulation, the use of bio-based materials such as wood wool and compressed tile ceilings, as well as the replacement of heating and lighting equipment with high-performance, energy-efficient systems. Photovoltaic panels were also installed on the dojo extension.

All of these measures will reduce annual energy consumption by more than 60%, bringing the building’s energy performance to the 2050 threshold defined by the Tertiary Decree. This achievement is also the result of high-quality architectural and technical design, ensuring comfort in all seasons. To complete the renovation of this tertiary building, Eiffage Construction will ensure maintenance and energy monitoring during the operational phase.

At the height of the project, 55 workers contributed to the progress of the works, with more than 4,100 hours of social integration completed.

Congratulations to all the teams involved for bringing this ambitious and innovative project to life!
