Terceo takes part in the redevelopment of sports facilities at Le Pin National Stud Farm in the Orne department.

The Haras National du Pin, nicknamed the “Versailles Palace for horses,” is one of the most prestigious national stud farms. It was built in Normandy by Louis XV’s architects between 1715 and 1736. The estate, listed as a historic monument since 1949, has recently undergone a major transformation with the creation of the International Equestrian Sports Centre (PISE), funded by Orne Departmental Council. Our Terceo experts took part in this ambitious project aimed at modernizing ageing sports facilities to make them suitable for hosting major international competitions, starting with the Paris 2024 Games.

As part of the extensive redevelopment project undertaken at Le Pin National Stud Farm, four competition arenas were created in the Grands Champs sector, where particular attention was paid to equestrian ground preparation. A subirrigation watering system requiring hydraulic reinforcement had to be installed, in order to host carriage driving and eventing competitions.

"The stud farm is structured around a reception building, a panoramic restaurant and areas for professionals, including two booths for judges and six staff rooms. Toilet facilities and stands have also been provided for both public and professionals. The car park now has 340 parking spaces for competitors' vans, lorries and cars," said Business Manager Arnaud Bourgoin.

305 permanent stalls (4 x 3 m) equipped with facilities for the well-being of the horses have been built around planted courtyards. They are fitted with green roofs providing thermal and sound insulation and special lighting. The new site also has a platform capable of accommodating up to 200 additional removable stalls.

Our Terceo experts installed all the stud farm's high and low voltage systems, as Arnaud Bourgoin explained: "We installed the delivery-transformation station, the low-voltage main switchboard (LVMS) and the distribution boards, as well as the earth circuits and earth connections. We organised the site's main and secondary distribution systems, fitted all the power sockets and various lighting fixtures (including safety devices). The fire safety system, voice, data and image facilities, intruder alarm systems and video surveillance were also part of our work."

This redevelopment project began in 2022 and took nearly two years to complete, with equipment being delivered in stages. Work on the Pontavice residence adjacent to Le Pin National Stud was completed in time for the arrival of the New Zealand equestrian delegation, which came to take part in the Paris 2024 Games. A week before the start of the Games, the four riders and their horses were able to enjoy training facilities worthy of those hosting the eventing competition at the Palace of Versailles at the end of July 2024.

On the strength of their involvement in this project, our experts were also asked to carry out electrical work at the Cité Pontavice. The complex will be used to accommodate competitors and visitors to the stud farm and will ultimately comprise five buildings, each equipped with bedrooms, communal areas (lounges, kitchenettes, laundry rooms) and a meeting room. Four of these five accommodation buildings have already been delivered.
