Eiffage Énergie Transport & Distribution takes part in the electrification of Liberia with the Transco CLSG project

On 16 January 2017 Eiffage Énergie Transport & Distribution and Spanish partner Elecnor (a benchmark player in the infrastructure, renewable energies and new technologies sectors) signed an important contract to launch the construction of a new stretch of the CLSG line. This 225 kV double-circuit line running through Mano River Union countries Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea offers local communities real development prospects for the future.

The Transco CLSG project (which bears the initials of the 4 countries hosting the high-voltage line) aims to consolidate the West African sub-region’s electric power market. The electrification of this vast zone partially covered with tropical forest is expected to benefit around 24 million citizens living in the several hundred communities along the line. It is a key project for the countries and people involved, and should enable schools, health centres and thousands of small craftsmen to have access to a power supply.

Lot 3 of the contract involves the section of line linking Yekepa and Buchanan in Liberia - the most significant stretch on this project of international scope since it covers 230 km of the high-voltage line, which totals 1,300 km.

The 50/50 joint-venture established between Eiffage Énergie and Elecnor aims to install the whole line within two years, while respecting environmental commitments. The project will generate 48 million euros of revenue.
