Eiffage Génie Civil Marine built a 750-metre pilework wharf for this operation in mainly dry conditions, using a ground-breaking method enabling secure scheduling and guaranteeing top-quality construction while avoiding any maritime interface with the canal, which is the country's economic hub.
The extended terminal, located on the west bank of the canal's Pacific entrance, is now in action.
This project is an engineering, supply and building contract won in 2015 by the Jan De Nul / Saipem Travaux Maritimes consortium (Saipem Travaux Maritimes is now Eiffage Génie Civil Marine).
