A strong architectural symbol, the former headquarters of L’Humanité has been entirely rehabilitated to accommodate new uses while respecting the work of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. This 7,700 m² building underwent a complete renovation, including the restoration of façades listed as Historic Monuments—particularly those made of stapled stone and raw concrete—along with the identical replacement of exterior joinery and the preservation of remarkable architectural elements.
Beyond the heritage restoration, the project stood out for its environmental excellence. At the end of the design phase, it obtained the BBCA Renovation label, a guarantee of low carbon footprint, with 5% of materials coming from reuse, thereby promoting the value of existing resources.
The technical and architectural choices made it possible to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the use of low-impact materials and an active reuse approach.
This commitment to quality was recognized beyond certifications: in September 2025, the project won the Trophée de la Construction in the “Commercial Building Renovation” category, awarded by Batiactu. This prize highlights exemplary and innovative projects that showcase the richness of expertise in the construction sector and its collective commitment to social, economic, and environmental challenges.
With this rehabilitation, the former headquarters of L’Humanité begins a new life: modern, accessible offices that respect its heritage while being resolutely forward-looking.
Congratulations to all the Eiffage Construction teams who contributed to the successful completion of this emblematic project!
