For 30 years, the Solidarités nouvelles face au chômage (SNC) grassroots movement has been carrying out two main types of initiative: firstly, free individual support for job seekers is provided by 2,400 volunteer members via 182 local solidarity groups. Around 3,800 job seekers receive support every year, with 62% finding work. Secondly, the association also creates and finances social economy and solidarity-based jobs for a number of job seekers.
At its board meeting in May 2017, the Eiffage Foundation voted to support the association over a period of three years, to help with training volunteers and the creation of solidarity-based jobs.
