The penstock pipes will also be replaced here by new ones: 2 x 320 m of piping representing around 340 tonnes of steel on a 73° gradient.
To carry out these works, EDF Hydraulique Aude-Ariège has called on regional firms including Eiffage Génie Civil and Résirep's branches in the Haute-Garonne, who have offered ground-breaking solutions for load handling and conducting operations. A blondin – worksite cableway equipped with a lifting device – has been installed, thus enabling up to 8 tonnes of heavy materials to be raised and transported. The machine has an electric motor to limit noise pollution during the works.
Demolition of the old penstock pipes has just started on the site. The works as a whole will be completed during summer 2020.
