The project will involve reconfiguring the marina basin to accommodate 515 vessels, lengthening the existing sea wall to create extra facilities, and developing a currently unoccupied area of the marina to include a four-star hotel, restaurant, water fun park and seawater spa complex, 2,000 square-metre main dock area, new harbourmaster’s office and almost 170 additional parking spaces. The redevelopment of the harbour in Villeneuve-Loubet is also an opportunity to restore its promenade, with continuous pedestrian and non-motorised access from end to end.
The municipality of Villeneuve-Loubet and the consortium plan to set a new environmental standard with the Marina Baie des Anges. All building work will comply with the Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings (BDM) standard. A range of initiatives will be implemented to obtain the Pavillon Bleu label and Port Propre et Actif en biodiversité certification, including the use of seawater energy for heating and air conditioning, the creation of artificial hatcheries for breeding fish, and the installation of floating refuse collectors.
Eiffage Construction will design and construct the buildings in partnership with the architects Erades & Bouzat. Eiffage and its partners are committed to assigning 20% of the works to local small businesses and artisans. Works are expected to begin in early 2021, with the new marina entering full service in mid-2024.
