TELT Lyon-Turin: Eiffage Génie Civil inaugurates phase 2 of the railway interconnection infrastructure

On Monday, October 19th, our Eiffage Génie Civil teams inaugurated the phase 2 railway interconnection infrastructure in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne—a key milestone that will connect the future transalpine tunnel to the existing rail network.

This is a source of immense pride for all our teams who, over the last 4 years, have brought this 4-km series of structures to life, crossing through the towns of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Villargondran.

An exceptional project in numbers:

  • 5 km of retaining walls, reaching up to 16 m in height
  • 1.3 million m³ of embankments
  • 1 viaduct over the Arvan river and 1 rail bridge to reinstate the RD906 road
  • 3 hydraulic culverts and 3 technical galleries for track access under the embankments
  • 1 structure for the tracks to pass through the future passenger building
  • 6 km of 4-meter-high acoustic barriers
  • 800 m of new platforms in the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne station

To finalize this phase, an exceptional 4-week, high-intensity operation mobilized our teams day and night to connect the new infrastructure to the existing rail network.

A huge congratulations to all the teams for their work on this major project!

We thank SNCF Réseau for their continued trust and remain mobilized for the start of phase 3 in the coming weeks.
