During the winter season, ensuring driver safety and maintaining smooth traffic flow on motorways, both in lowland areas and in the mountains, is the priority for Eiffage's motorway concessions in France. This mission is also fully in line with their concession contract. In practice, this means that each network deploys all available resources, at all times and in all situations, regardless of weather conditions, to achieve this objective.
Specifically, every year between 15 November and 15 March, the motorway concessions mobilise more than 1,200 employees and considerable technical resources to guarantee the best possible quality of service despite the vagaries of the weather.
It is this expertise and professionalism that APRR and AREA will share at the 17th World Congress on Winter Maintenance, Resilience and Decarbonisation of Roads. This major event, organised by the World Road Association (PIARC), takes place every four years and brings together professionals from around the world, including government agencies, road operators and researchers.
APRR and AREA were particularly involved in organising this edition of the World Winter Maintenance Congress: their contributions began with the initial preparatory meetings and continued with the search for exhibitors and partners, and even included the loan of signage equipment and new trucks. Finally, around forty employees will be present, notably to host round tables and plenary sessions.
With consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, PIARC contributes to the stable and sustainable global development of the road and transport sector. As an active member, the Eiffage motorway concessions are proud to contribute to its work and to the success of the Chambéry Congress.
