Created in 1992, the “Habitat et Humanisme Île-de-France” association works to provide accommodation and support for poorly housed and vulnerable families, by offering them decent housing in a balanced environment. The association is a member of the “Habitat et Humanisme” federation created by Father Bernard Devert, who is also a real estate professional. The Federation includes 53 different associations, spanning 67 French departments.
On 21 January, elected officials, financial partners, patrons, volunteers and employees of “Habitat et Humanisme Île-de-France” as well as the new residents, celebrated the successful completion of this innovative project.
The intergenerational residence provides housing for eighty residents with low incomes. It has two buildings: a “pension de famille” with twenty-six housing units for people in extreme social difficulty and another building with twenty-two social housing units for families (including two shared units). The residence also provides two communal areas and various outdoor spaces to encourage shared activities and community living. A team of volunteers organizes activities for the residents.
The Eiffage Foundation provided the funding for developing and furnishing the apartments and communal areas within the residence, as well as the outdoor spaces (garden, vegetable garden and terrace).
