ASUL Vaulx-en-Velin is a 100% women’s handball club based in the suburbs of Lyon. 54% of its 140 players are from priority neighbourhoods. In addition to its sports vocation, the association also carries out initiatives to promote professional integration and education through sport.
Here are some examples of its professional integration initiatives to support the club’s 18 to 25 year-old players: organisation of an “Odyssée de l’emploi” initiative in conjunction with Lyon Crepi (group of businesses promoting professional integration), recruitment of three players by LCL (formerly Crédit Lyonnais) and of ten players by a group of innovation companies.
To develop the employability and skills of their players, the association encourages them get involved in volunteering for its initiatives: help with homework, junior team reporter, junior referee for younger player matches.
The Foundation is helping to buy equipment for the junior reporter and junior referee initiatives, with the double support of: Philippe Dumont, employment coordinator at the Infrastructures division and former handball player, who is mentoring one of the club’s young players during their internship at Eiffage as part of their surveying technician training; Bertrand Finck, operations manager at Eiffage Construction, who is also supporting this project to promote the professional integration of girls through sport, a cause that is close to his heart.
