In Niort (79000), the historic MACIF headquarters, inaugurated in 1978, is now part of a new initiative called “Ambition Campus.” The project involved the complete rehabilitation of the existing building and the creation of a three-story extension, bringing the total area to 7,600 m² compared to 5,300 m² before the work, to accommodate over 500 employees.
The project had a dual challenge for our Eiffage Construction teams: preserve the architectural soul of the building while equipping it with technical and environmental performance in line with the requirements of the Tertiary Decree. The historic tripod-shaped structure was preserved and rehabilitated, while the extension, built with low-carbon concrete, asserts a contemporary design in continuity with the existing building.
Among the key highlights of the project, the timber-framed façades, equipped with bio-based insulation and zinc cladding, were prefabricated at the SAVARE workshops to limit disruptions and reduce energy needs. Manufactured off-site, they were installed by our in-house production teams specially trained for the task.
The project aims for BREEAM Very Good certification and incorporates concrete environmental commitments: use of low-carbon concrete, bio-based wood fiber insulation, overall energy analysis of the building, and an advanced reuse approach. Technical floors, suspended ceiling panels, and cable trays from the deconstruction were reused, illustrating a circular economy approach at the campus scale.
Started in October 2024, the construction mobilized up to 70 workers and generated 7,300 hours of integration.
Currently being fitted out by MACIF teams, the new headquarters will offer comfortable and collaborative workspaces by the end of 2026, while also incorporating preserved and restored heritage elements.
Congratulations to all the teams involved for the success of this project!
