Cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the design-build contract for three new car parks at Marseille-Provence airport was restarted on a new footing at the beginning of 2023. The aim is to construct three buildings, each four storeys high, to create 4,000 additional parking spaces, giving a total of 5,570 spaces.

In a consortium with silo parking expert Gagnepark, our specialists installed 3,000 photovoltaic solar panels on the ground floor + 3 storeys of the first car park, known as P4. They were responsible for the engineering, design and construction of the shading systems, and will do the same for the other two car parks, P3a and P3b.

Our electricians, who also won the high and low voltage contracts, created two high-voltage substations, each of which will play a crucial role in the sustainability and energy efficiency of the airport, which aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.
"The first substation will power the infrastructure of each of the three new car parks, the lighting, the guidance system and the 120 IRVE terminals. The second substation will inject the energy produced by the 9,000 photovoltaic solar panels installed on the roofs into the Marseille-Provence airport electricity grid. This contribution of green energy corresponds to a total power of 3 MW, i.e. 1 MW per car park. This installation will enable the airport to take a major step towards its goal of energy self-sufficiency," explains Frédéric Gioux, Business Manager.

This project, of significant scale for our teams, comprises three delivery phases and the first approach. Built in just one year to ensure that the airport in Marignane (13) is able to welcome spectators and athletes from the Paris Games in good conditions, P4 is due for handover at the end of February.
